The Story Behind Grace’s Collection: A Tale of Kindness, Beanies, and Small Brand Struggles

If you’ve been following us for a while, you probably already know the origin story of Grace’s Collection. But if you’re new here—or just didn’t catch it the first time—grab a coffee (or tea, we’re not picky) and settle in for a quick trip down memory lane.

Picture this: It’s 2021. Our Instagram account had fewer followers than most people’s private accounts—like, maybe 100 tops. Enter Grace. Back then, she was one of the first creators we ever reached out to. We slid into her DMs with what could only be described as desperate optimism and asked if she’d share a good word or two about our fledgling brand. And you know what? She said yes. No questions asked, no rate cards - just a kind-hearted, “Sure, let’s do this!”

Now, for those of you unfamiliar with the influencer game back in the day, accounts with 10k+ followers had the coolest feature: swipe-to-buy links. (It was basically social media royalty status.) We weren’t in that league—far from it. But Grace still gave us a shot, and we’ll never forget it.

Here’s the thing: starting a small clothing brand is hard. The fashion industry is like a nightclub with a velvet rope, and we’re out here in the cold, holding a box of 20 T-shirts, hoping someone notices. Competing with big brands that have celebrity endorsements and marketing budgets the size of small countries? Yeah, not happening.

That’s why Grace’s kindness stood out so much. She helped us when we were just getting started, and we stayed in touch over the years. We’d send her new pieces, she’d give us feedback—it was a nice little partnership. Then last winter, she messaged us about a hat we’d sent her ages ago. It was her favorite, but it was getting old. Could she have a new one?

That’s when the idea hit me: why not create a collection together? We make great hats, Grace has amazing followers—it seemed like a perfect match. And that’s how Grace’s Collection was born!

Fast forward to this year, and we’re fashionably late (emphasis on fashionably) with the new colors. The original plan was to keep six from last season and add three new ones, but life had other ideas. So instead, we’re launching one new beanie and keeping five of last season’s fan favorites. If all goes well, the collection should be ready this week. Fingers crossed you’ll love it as much as we do!

Thanks for sticking with us on this wild ride, and here’s to Grace for being the kind of person who makes the impossible feel a little more possible.
